Job Point was pleased to nominate our partners at University of Missouri Campus Dining for the Columbia Employment Consortium’s Inclusive Business Award in 2024.
Today, we were proud to have the opportunity to present this award along with a representative from People First of Missouri to Campus Dining representative, Karlishika Washington, in Human Resources. She has been consistently compassionate and professional as she has helped support job candidates through the hiring and employment process.
From the nomination,
“Campus Dining has been a tremendous asset to Columbia for many years and Job Point’s partnership continues to grow stronger each year. Campus dining has hired a great number of candidates and there are many success stories to share. All the managers are a pleasure to work with and Campus Dining is a great first job location for our candidates. The management team are inclusive and truly care about our candidates. They exhibit compassion and assistance in insuring their success. They are quick to offer accommodations for our candidates who live with disabilities. The managers are very understanding of our candidates’ disabilities and make allowances when our candidates make unusual choices or decision during a period of instability. The entire staff is very approachable and enjoyable to work with.
Campus Dining is open to Job Coaching and welcomes the service. We have also performed job trials at their facilities. These Job Trials have provided hands on experience and allowed candidates to understand the expectations and duties of the job. Campus Dining is open to discussing our candidate’s performance and is always open to ideas about enhancing our candidates working experience and job performance.”
“Campus Dining readily hires without any reservations of sex, race, age, ethnicity, religion, or disability. They are a true champion to those with disabilities giving many a chance for employment that other employers have ignored. Many of our candidates have been promoted to more challenging positions and Campus Dining provides opportunities for all.”
As we continue to celebrate October as National Disability Employment Awareness Month, this was an incredible opportunity to highlight a business that goes out of its way to ensure that employees of all abilities have the opportunity to showcase their skills and abilities and explore different career pathways.
Thank you to Boone County Family Resources, the Columbia Employment Consortium, People First of Missouri and the rest of the committee for this opportunity to recognize Campus Dining for their work in promoting inclusivity in hiring practices.
