There is nothing like having a good laugh while helping raise funds for a good cause. That is the joy of Job Point’s Comedy Night, presented by Commerce Bank.
Featuring a lively line-up of local celebrities and topping the night off with a professional comedian, every year this event dazzles audiences.
Most people are terrified of public speaking and our four local comedians graciously volunteered to get up on stage and write their own material, to boot! We are so grateful to Dr. John Adams, Adonica Coleman, Gary Lee and Bob Roper for pushing fear aside and stepping boldly out on that stage to help support Job Point’s mission.
The night began with our Dressed for Success Auction – the goal being to raise additional funds to help Job Point’s students and job seekers step out onto their own stage with the ability to put their best foot forward. Proceeds from this auction will go to help equip students with the uniforms and equipment they’ll need when they get started on their new career journey.
We often overlook the costs of starting a new job – from gas to get there, new uniforms, required equipment or even just the right shoes – all of these costs can truly add up – especially for someone who has been out of the workforce for some time.
But thanks to the generosity of our donors, over $8,000 was raised to help our candidates and students address the burden that these start-up costs can create.
Hosted by Dan Chopin, the evening ended with the comedic stylings of Chad Thornsberry – a local-to-Missouri professional comedian who delivered some uproarious laughs while having a little bit of fun with some of the younger audience members.
Thanks to our Dressed for Success Sponsors: Varsity Clips, Varsity Nails, Makes Scents, Arris’ Pizza, Murray’s and Les Bourgeois for helping us put together some fun packages to thank our donors!
Thanks to Bur Oak Brewing Company for donating four delicious flavors of beer for our guests to enjoy.
Thanks most of all to our event sponsors for helping raise close to $45,000 to help support Job Point’s mission of connecting people with meaningful work, innovative training and vocational opportunities:

We would also like to express our sincere gratitude to Fred DeMarco and Matt Istwan for their constant support and expertise at putting this event together. It would not be the same without them and we are so incredibly grateful for their time, experience and passion for helping the community through this event.
